I’m running because I believe the Republican Party is doing great things in Hood County, but I personally didn’t get an opportunity to finish my mission because we (the Party Executive Committee and I) were willfully hindered early on in our tenure. This obstruction took the form of a baseless and spiteful lawsuit filed against me, The Party, the County’s Election Administrator, and a Republican candidate for elected office. And although we prevailed in court (the Judge agreeing with us that we had followed the law), significant damage was inflicted on the local Republican Party in the form of lost time, a loss of focus on our core mission, and actual financial costs associated with defending the lawsuit. In addition, our mission was hampered because I underestimated the level of vitriol that existed among some members of our community that self-identify as Republicans.
However, despite the early-on challenges, the Party has been effective in:
✔️ Pivoting to a positive message. We have embraced a messaging approach that is fact-based and Principle-supported; and doesn’t include a focus on personality or attacks on individuals. The HCRP’s Facebook page is now a positive community information platform, instead of a place of incessant and unproductive argument.
✔️ Delivering voter turnout. I am proud of how the Party organized in the lead up to the 2024 General Election (despite having to recover from a lawsuit) to deliver the fifth-highest voter turnout by percentage of Texas counties with over 50,000 registered voters.
✔️ Becoming a fully functional and positive political influence in Hood County. The EC is now operating as an effective organization, with good issue-based debate, rather than a place for infighting, intimidation, and intrigue.
✔️ Increasing our influence (read, implementation of Texas Republican Principles and related core beliefs) within the political arena in Hood County. I have coined a phrase “Republicans do Republican Things” which serves to consistently steer us towards making the decisions and taking the actions that define us as Texas Republicans.
✔️ Extending our influence outside of Hood County. Through thoughtful and pertinent Resolutions and more effective communications, our local Party has been successful in establishing a close dialogue with both the State Republican Party and the Republican Chairs in many other Counties. The Hood County Republican Party is now recognized as a significant conservative voice Statewide.
So, the Party is on the right track, but we have A LOT more to do.
In closing, The Party now speaks with authority into every major issue and problem facing Hood County residents. Some of the items we are currently addressing include, but are not limited to:
1 - data centers, BESS units, and associated disruptive development
2 - violations of individual Constitutional rights and related lawfare against selected citizens
3 - Islamization of Texas and the entire nation
These major battles are ongoing, and I am running because the fight isn’t over. Despite the personal cost, I am willing to continue to spearhead every one of these battles because of the real risks they pose to We The People of Hood County.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
